Wide open slopes, icecamp, snow even in summer, Black mamba and the largest Austrian superpipe, this is Kitzsteinhorn, a ski resort laying in 3000 meters above the see level providing stunning panoramatic views.
Kaprun-Kitzsteinhorn is a ski area of 53 kilometers of slopes and together with Zell am See form the Europe ski region. Well known Zell am See is only a 30 minute bus ride away and so with a combined ski pass one can enjoy skiing in both areas. Ski bus is for free and goes twice per hour in both direction.
On ,,Kitz'' one can ski all year round and so this resort is a snow sure area. You will find here wide blue and red slopes, snow parks, variety of free ride runs and black slopes. The famous black slope is Black mamba, steep up to 63%.
I would recomend this resort only in the combination with Zell am See because when the weather gets windy and cloudy in 3000 meters is everything double worse. so condition to ski, honestly said, suck. On the other hand Kitzsteinhorn is one of the best early skiing areas, so if you can't wait to ski come here to play on snow. During the spring months of March and April there is often sunny weather and one can get a nice google tent. On the end of April one can still ride powder and enjoy empty lifts.
As a resort I would have ranked it with 3,5 points but together with Zell am See I am giving it 4,5 out of 5 points.
